Hundreds of people were entertained in the annual Tweede Nuwe Jaar Festival in Green Point, Cape Town, on Monday, as Cape Minstrel troupes marched down Main Road.

According to the organisers, “The parade celebrates heritage, unity and the living tradition of the Kaapse Klopse.”

The street parade started at 11am and was followed by competitions at the DHL Stadium.

The first troupe on the fan walk to Green Point Stadium was the Original D6 Hanover Minstrels.

The youths from the Original D6 Hanover Minstrels seemed unaffected by the heat while entertaining the spectators lining the fan walk.

Spectators took photos and cheered the Cape Town Hawkers on Green Point Main Road.

The over 1,000 strong troupe, the Juvie Boys, gave it their all on the way to the stadium.
