76-year-old Martha Marais was tied to a bench in Mamelodi Hospital in 2019. Her niece Virginia Keppler has subsequently become an outspoken activist for a better Gauteng health system. Keppler describes the battle she is fighting to hold health workers accountable for the way they treat patients.
