The first bridge on the most direct route between Mutare and Chimanimani, across the Umvumvumvu River, has been destroyed by flooding from the cyclone. On 15 March, Cyclone Idai slammed into the Chimanimani Mountains in Zimbabwe killing hundreds and leaving many more displaced.
